Lab Guide Posters

Partnership with the Pacific States Marine Fisheries Commission (PSMFC)

Developed engaging layouts with a cohesive style for a set of lab guide posters describing the process of extracting coded wire tags from fish head samples. The posters, designed to be both functional and visually appealing, featured clear, informative content complemented by vector illustrations, ensuring complex information was presented in an accessible manner to new lab technicians.

Children’s Book Illustrations

Partnership with the author, a marine biology professor at University of Alaska Southeast

Fully illustrated and self-published the children's picture book Our Blue World on the Night Before Christmas, a marine-inspired adaptation of Clement C. Moore's classic poem. The book reimagines the familiar Christmas tale, replacing traditional holiday imagery with vibrant underwater scenes. Through whimsical illustrations and playful rhyming text by Heidi Pearson, young readers are introduced to the wonders of the ocean as Santa brings the magic of Christmas to all the creatures of the sea!

Nature Cards

Laminated cards were distributed on whale watch vessels in Juneau, Alaska, to enhance the educational experience of guests

Developed nature cards highlighting the unique life histories, characteristics, and behaviors of local marine mammals. The cards paired illustrations and graphics with key information to provide whale watch passengers with a deeper understanding of the marine wildlife they were observing.

Bivalve ID Guide

Partnership with NOAA - Tech Memo: Guide for Identifying Select Bivalve Species Common to Southeast Alaska

Project encompassed photo collection and editing, publication design and layout, and the integration of custom diagrams and bivalve anatomy illustrations. The resulting technical memo was used to identify bivalve siphons and feet in the stomach contents of Northern sea otters. Most recently, the memo was referenced in the American Fisheries Society’s clam anatomy guide, The Soft-Shell Clam Mya arenaria: Biology, Fisheries, and Mariculture.
